After the box-office success of director Anurag Basu's "Gangster", Nimbus Communications is now set to release Mahesh Bhatt's "The Killer" July 21.

Vivek Vaswani, group advisor, Nimbus Communications, says the release date has been carefully chosen keeping in mind the line-up of releases, starting with the July 7 release of "Corporate", followed by "Golmaal" scheduled for a July 14 release.

Nimbus is looking to intensify the promotional campaign of "The Killer".

"'Gangster' was a dark film whereas 'The Killer' is a lighter and more cheerful film. The casting combination of Emraan Hashmi, Nisha Kothari and Irrfan Khan has also generated a good deal of curiosity among the audiences. The film has a good musical score but the bottom line for success is that it is a Mahesh Bhatt film," Vaswani said.

Nimbus is also going ahead with its expansion plans on the distribution front by setting up new offices all over India.

"We are looking at setting up an all-India distribution base in order to make distribution the front line of our business. The fate of most films at the box-office is decided by their distribution strategy, whether it is the release date, the pre-release build-up, the number of hoardings, besides the competition from other films," Vaswani pointed out.

Nimbus is being extremely choosy about its acquisitions. "Our job as a premier distribution office would be to make a success of a bad film but we are interested in acquiring only those films where we can work out the release strategy at least two months in advance prior to the release date," he said.

The release of Nimbus' own production "Sarhad Paar" has been held back to facilitate a big release for the film through a proper distribution network.
